Rep. Pavlov supports protecting privacy in school restrooms
RELEASE|September 15, 2025

Rep. Joseph Pavlov last week cosponsored and voted for House Bill 4024, also known as the “Student Restroom Privacy Act,” which requires educational institutions to ensure that students use multiple-occupancy restrooms, changing areas, showers, and similar facilities in accordance with their biological sex.

“I believe every student deserves safety, dignity, and respect,” Pavlov said. “Parents are concerned about their children’s safety, and they need more peace of mind when they drop their kids off every morning. This bill ensures there is clarity and protection for everyone, even in the most vulnerable places in school.”

The legislation includes public schools, colleges, universities, and others, with common sense exemptions such as maintenance, medical assistance, or when a temporary designation is required.

HB 4024 passed the House by a vote of 58-46 and waits further action in the state Senate.
