State Rep. John Roth recently celebrated the signing of his bill to give historic car enthusiasts more time to drive their vehicles. The plan extends the time vehicles with historic plates can be driven on public roads from one month to three.

“Michigan was built on automobiles. It only makes sense that we should honor that history by giving folks more time to drive their historic vehicles,” said Roth, R-Interlochen. “Many cars and trucks with historic plates were built here in Michigan. People put a lot of time and money into purchasing and maintaining these automobiles. Anyone with that much commitment to historic vehicles should have all summer to show them off.”

Over Memorial Day weekend, Roth attended the Northport Car Show, Leelanau County’s longest-running auto show.

“This is going to be a great summer for those of us who love old automobiles,” Roth said. “I love going to car shows. But it’s even more fun when I get to tell a crowd full of people that they have even more time to drive their antique vehicles.”

August 17 – Woodward Dream Cruise in the Detroit suburbs
